Art history

Prof. dr Slawomir J. Magala was educated in Poland, Germany, and the United States.. He is currently holding a chair in cross-cultural management and chairing a department of organizational sciences and human resource management at the Erasmus University in Rotterdam. He has published numerous books, e.g. “Georg Simmel”, “Miedzy gielda a smietnikiem: eseje simmlowskie”(Between A Stock exchange and a Waste Dump. Simmelian essays), “Polski teatr studencki jako element kontrkultury” (Polish Student Theatre as an Element of Counterculture), “Fotografia w kulturze wspolczesnej (Photography in Contemporary Culture), “Class Struggle in Classless Poland”(under the penname of Stanislaw Starski), “Cross Cultural Competence”, “The management of Meaning in Organizations”. He translated Susan Sontag, John Barth, Samuel Beckett, Norman Mailer, Alfred Whitehead and George Ritzer into Polish and is editor-in-chief of Journal of Organizational Change Management.
He is married, has two children, lives in the Netherlands enjoying the aesthetization of everyday life and adventures of contemporary art domesticated by individualization and virtual cybercommunities of globally distributed work. Currently he studies the transformations of cultural contents used as communication commodities in virtual and real networks.
