Grzegorz Gwiazda


b. 1984


Grzegorz Gwiazda was born in 1984 in Lidzbark Warmiński. He studied at the Academy of Art in Poznań and in Warsaw, and on a scholarship at the Accademia di Belle Arte di Brera in Milan, Italy. In 2009 he graduated with honours from the Academy of Art in Warsaw, having studied in the faculty of sculpture under Professor Adam Myjak. In January 2014 he was awarded his doctorate. Since 2009 he has acted as assistant to Professor Maciej Zychowicz in the faculty of graphics and sculpture at the Institute of Art Education at the Academy of Special Education (IEA ASP) in Warsaw.

In 2008/9 he was awarded a grant from the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage, and in 2010 he received a grant from Initiative Entry. In 2010 his work 'Here is a Human' (Oto Człowiek) received an honorable mention in the international competition of figurative art organized by "Fundacio de les Arts i els Artistes".

His works have been shown in individual exhibitions in various Polish cities: Warmia Bishops Castle, Lidzbark Warmiński (2008), "Promocyjna" Gallery, Warsaw (2011), Poznan and Mosina (2013), "Wspólna" Gallery, Bydgoszcz (2013)," Fibak" Gallery, Warsaw (2013), and "101projekt" Gallery, Warsaw (2014).

His work has also been exhibited in collective exhibitions both in Poland and abroad: "Coming Out: the Best Graduates of ASP", Warsaw (2009), "Exhibition of Professors and Graduates in the Faculty of Sculpture ASP", Warsaw (2012), Madrid (2010, 2011) and Barcelona (2011). His sculptures can be found in the permanent collection of Museu Europeu d'Art Modern in Barcelona.
