Czeslaw Czaplinski - artist photographer, journalist and film documentary, was born in 1953 in Lodz (Poland), since 1979 lives in New York and Warsaw.
He is the author or a co-author of more than 20 albums and books, among them: The Styka Family Saga (1989), Face to Face (1991), Jerzy Kosinski’s Face and Masks (1992), Jerzy Kosinski Passions (1993), Life After the Death of Jerzy Kosinski (1993), Careers in America (1994), Portraits (1995), My HIStory: How I Photographed a King (1999), The Artists of the-End of The Century (2000), Death & Life (2001), New York Before and After September 11, 2001 (2002), Doctors in Fight for Health (Vol.1/2002, Vol.2/2003, Vol.3/2004), The Universe of Rev. Czaplinski’s photographs and articles has published all over the world, such as: The New York Times, TIME, Vanity Fair, The Washington Post, Newsweek, Pani, Twój Styl, Viva, Rzeczpospolita, Sztuka.pl, Wprost.
Czaplinski has exhibited at 100 photographic shows and presentations, the venues including the Zacheta National Gallery in Warsaw (1989, 1991), the Museum of Art in Lodz (1992), the Van Reekum Museum in Holland (1993), the National Museum in Warsaw (1995, 2002, 2007), the National Library in Warsaw (2000, 2001, 2005), the Museum of Mazovia in Plock (2002, 2006, 2008), as well as Nice (2000), Chicago (1998), Moscow (1997), London (2003) and New York (1981, 2001, 2003).
Czaplinski and his work have been the subject of several documentaries: Czeslaw Czaplinski’s Opening Night, Photographer, Faces, Face to Face, The Aristocrat of Flowers, Black and White in Color. Today, he makes documentary films, among others about: prof. Henryk Skarzynski, Rev. Jan Twardowski, Jan Nowak-Jezioranski, Renata Jonscher.
Czaplinski's works are in the collections of the Library of Congress in Washington, the New York Public Library, the Museum of Art in Lodz, the National Museum in Warsaw and Wroclaw, the National Library in Warsaw as well as many private collections world-wide.
Many awards including: Medal of Merit Gloria Artis, the Gold Medal of the Photographic Society in Łódź, Honor Award Ring Polish Collectors Hetman.
