Exhibition held on the 150th anniversary of Ignacy Jan Paderewski's birthday.

The exposition documents the presence of Poles in the United States. It shows they have made a considerable contribution to the character of the continent across the Atlantic Ocean. There are over a hundred of pictures from the collection of Czesław Czapliński, a world-famous photographer and journalist, who has been documenting life of his countrymen in the United States for 30 years. The photos show the early days of Polish settlers in America.

In the exhibition, there are pictures of over 70 eminent Poles. There are, i.a. Jerzy Antczak – a director, Stanisław Barańczak – a poet, Andrzej Brycht – a writer, Zbigniew Brzeziński – a political scientist, Piotr Chomczyński – a biochemist and inventor, Andrzej Czeczot – a graphic artist, Elżbieta Czyżewska – an actress, Andrzej Dudziński – a graphic artist, Wojciech Fangor – a painter, Wojciech Fibak – a tennis player and collector, Janusz Głowacki – a writer, Ryszard Horowitz – a photographer, Mark Kac – a mathematician, Janusz Kapusta – an illustrator and a painter, Tymoteusz Karpowicz – a poet and prose writer, Jerzy Kosiński – a writer, Jan Kott – a critic and drama theoretician, Ewa Kuryluk – a painter and writer, Daniel Libeskind – an architect, Bogusław Lustyk – a painter, Lech Majewski – a director, writer, poet and painter, Czesław Miłosz – poet, Jan Nowak-Jeziorański – the Radio Free Europe Director, Rafał Olbiński – a graphic artist and painter, Andrzej Pityński – a sculptor, Zbigniew Rybczyński – a film director, Jerzy Skolimowski – a director and a painter, Leopold Tyrmand – a writer, Michał Urbaniak – a jazz musician, Aleksander Wolszczan – an astronomer.

The exposition presented at the Podchorążówka building is only a fragment of the exhibition. The other part is situated at the fence of the park from the side of Al. Ujazdowskie.
