"...Searching for artistic inspiration in many sports disciplines has its roots dating back to antiquity – it is a well- known and examined fact. Considerably less is spoken about contemporary artists’ search, but still consistently over the de- cades, a lot of attention is devoted to it on temporary exhibitions. The Museum of Sports and Tourism has its no- table achievement in this field.
The artist, who wants to share his sports perception with us, is EUGENIUSZ GERLACH, a Cracow artist, celebrating his 70th birthday in 2011. During his studies, practising sports himself (football, athletics), so able to understand its nuances..."
"Eugeniusz Gerlach - Sports in Painting" exhibition presented at the Museum of Sport and Tourism (Olympic Center, ul. Gdynia Coast 4) from March 10 to April 29, 2011 includes works inspired by sport, created in recent years.
The exhibition is accompanied by a catalog and display the album ready for fifty years of creative work of the Artist, entitled "EUGENE Gerlach Painting Paintings 1959-2009" by Czeslaw Czaplinski.
